ACTRESS Kate Mellors says it is a ‘dream come true’ to play Belle, the beast at The Brindley panto.

The 22-year-old will star alongside soap star Neil Caple who plays her father, mad cap inventor Dr Rene and Josh Mumby as the beast.

The cast came together for the first time to launch Beauty and The Beast which opens on Friday, December 13 and runs until Sunday, January 12.

Kate, who trained at Liverpool Theatre School, said: “Belle was always my favourite princess as a little girl. I love her feisty nature and determination to do what she believes is right.

“It really is a dream come true to be be playing her and I get to wear the famous yellow dress.”

“The songs are fantastic in this production and I am sure the audience will be singing along at every show.”

Neil who has been in Casualty, Coronation Street, The Bill and Holby City, played Bernie Nolan’s husband, Marty Murray in Brookside.

He said: “Beauty and the Beast is a magical tale that should captivate everyone, young and old. Panto is somethong everyone can enjoy.”

They join Andy Moss as Anton, Sarah White as Countess de Beaumont, Joe Standerline as the dame, Callum Arnott as Ben.

Last year’s show attracted a record 14,000 visitors.
