African drumming and ethnic food bring carnival to Widnes
AFRICAN dancing and drummers, henna tattooing, the chance to contribute to a graffiti mural and an evening of live music are set to create a carnival in Widnes.
Ethnic food and market stalls will be at the free event at the CRMZ youth centre in Kingsway, on Friday, October 25.
The Halton Against Hate event has been organised by Halton Council’s youth team.
Halton Clr Ged Philbin, board member for young people, said: "Staff at CRMZ are keen to promote different cultures and diversity. This event is being held to make people aware of different cultures in a fun and creative way.”
Activities for all ages will run from 1pm to 5pm and a night time gig with live bands aimed at the older teens, takes place from 7pm to 10pm.
