TOP illustrator Tim Quinn, former editor of Marvel Comics, is coming to Widnes Library to run a unique cartoon workshop.

He will show children how to draw figures, express emotions and tell stories in pictures.

Booking for this free session on Friday, October 25, from 11am to 11.45am is essential.

It is one of a series of special events to celebrate Try Reading, a project for libraries to promote the Rugby League World Cup 2013.

American themed rhymetimes with Tom, the USA team mascot will be held at Ditton Library on Wednesday, October 23, Ditton from 10.30am to 11.30am, Halton Lea Library on Thursday, October 24, and Widnes Library on Friday, Ocotber 25, October Widnes Library, both from 11am to 11.45am.

Roy Basnett and guests from the world of rugby league present ‘Gerrum On Side’, an evening of lively discussion at Widnes Library on Thursday, October 24, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Schoolgirl, Ellie Walsh-O'Neill, aged nine, iof Dundalk Road, won a competition to design a mascot to greet the USA Tomahawks when they come to Widnes shortly.
