Cancer charity needs Halton volunteers to help with their Christmas appeal
A CHARITY is appealing for volunteers to help with their Christmas collection appeal.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is looking for people to lend a hand manning more than130 festive fundraising collection dates at venues across the north west during November and December.
The cancer care charity holds their vital festive collections during November and December each year to help raise funds to provide one-to-one nursing care for terminally ill people in their own homes.
Last year, Christmas collections in north west Cheshire and Greater Manchester raised more than £38,000, which funded two full time nurses for a whole year.
Every single penny of this money was collected by a supporter who volunteered their time to stand and collect for the charity at a venue in their local community.
Local fundraiser Michelle Bate said: “The reaction you get from the general public when you collect at Christmas is wonderful and it’s a fantastically rewarding way to spend just a couple of hours of your time.
“Every donation collected will help us provide even more hours of nursing care and now more than ever we need your support to ensure we are able to care for even more terminally ill patients in their own homes when they, and their families, need our support most.”
If you are able to give up a couple of hours of your time this Christmas, call 0161 255 2809 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
