Widnes firefighters host action-packed open day
WIDNES Community Fire Station is throwing open its doors to showcase the many and varied ways firefighters and support staff are working hard to help residents stay safe.
The free open day which takes place at the fire station on Lacey Street on Sunday, October 6 between 10am and 4pm, promises something for everyone.
There will be plenty of drama when crews re-enact a rescue following a road traffic collision, and there will be chip pan demonstrations throughout the day.
Other attractions include a wide range of fire engines, bouncy castle, face painting and much more for the whole family.
Refreshments will also be available including ice creams and hot dogs from the Firefighters Charity.
Organiser and Watch Manager Jason Fletcher said: "I think many people would be surprised at just how much the modern fire and rescue service does to prevent and deal with emergencies. We're really proud to have this opportunity to show the people of Widnes and the surrounding area how their community fire station works hard to keep them safe".
