Gifted young Widnes band to perform at showcase gig
A DREAM could come true for five gifted Widnes schoolboys.
Indie band The Sensors will be singing at the 02 Academy’s main stage in Liverpool on Saturday in a ‘Ones To Watch’ event for upcoming young bands.
The boys are only 15 and will be performing all their own material as scouts from the music industry assess them in the audience.
Wade Deacon pupils, Jake Thompson (vocals and rhythm guitar),Dom Cook (drums) Ed Jones (keyboard and backing vocals) and Steve Goddard (bass) have already played at The Cavern and various gigs across the north west.
Jake’s mum, Debbie, of Misty Close, said: “They work really hard. They write all their own songs.”
Michelle Cooke, Dom’s mum, of Peel House Lane, said: “Their confidence levels have soared. The more gigs they do, the stronger they get. Their level of music is amazing.”
Sam’s dad, Hughie, of Louse House Lane, said: “Sam absolutely commands the stage now. We’re absolutely made up at the way the band has come on.”
The boys rehearse at The Studio in Lacey Street.
