Tea dance celebrations in Halton
FREE TEA dances are being held to celebrate Older People’s Day.
The Mayor of Halton, Clr Margaret Ratcliffe will be leading dancers at The Heath Business Park at 1pm on Tuesday, October 1, and at Select Stadium in Lower House Lane, Widnes, at 1pm on Thursday, October 3.
Alan McKie, who runs Older But Wiser Wellbeing, said: “My idea is to get people together to keep active and well.
“We’ve had a tremendous response. Talking to each other makes them feel better.
“We want to prevent isolation.
“You don’t have to dance. We have had people in wheelchairs who just enjoy the company.”
Admission is free as the Runcorn event has been sponsored by SOG Limited, owners of The Heath, and the Widnes dance is being funded by Gussion International Transport of Ditton Road.
Alan added: “It is excellent that two local businesses have generously offered to sponsor these tea dances.”
Refreshments will be provided.
Admission is by ticket only. To reserve your place, please call Alan McKie on 07971 832467.
