A RED double decker bus is making a nostalgic comeback to Halton this weekend.

The 1961 Widnes No 31 will be offering free rides to Victoria Park for the north west vintage rally in Victoria Park on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29.

More than 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the free two day event featuring classic cars, motorbikes, commercial vehicles, steam engines and organs.

Halton Clr Eddie Jones, board member for events, said: “ Halton Council is happy that it is still able to offer this kind of event for the people of Halton.

"This a fantastic family weekend that attracts tens of thousands of people, showing that Halton plays an important part in keeping heritage and culture alive in our communities today.

"The Council encourages residents to visit the park and make full use of this exciting opportunity for fun and nostalgia.”

The bus, which was donated to the North West Museum of Transport in 1978, will ferry passengers from the municipal building car park, from 10am to 6pm.

A full size replica Spitfire Mark IX will bemaking its debut appearance. The Lytham St Anne’s Spitfire Display Team will be telling people what it was like serving as Aircrew in WW2 and show people around the replica aircraft.

Admission to the rally is free. For more information visit www.northwestvintagerally.co.uk
