A FEARLESS fundraiser who has raised thousands of pounds for charity now wants to help local people in need.
Retired scaffolder Tommy Whitfield, aged 67, from Runcorn, loves climbing so much, friends have nicknamed him ‘Tommy Tarzan’.
He dressed up as the fictional ape man when he abseiled from Liverpool Cathedral and posed in local woods for fun dressed in a loin cloth.
Energetic Tommy, of Murdishaw, said:”I’ve done 16 marathons and 93 half marathons. I’ve been raising money for charity for 32 years. I’ve done the Krypton Factor assault course three times.
“I’ve always been fit and healthy.
“Now, I’d like to help more smaller, local charities. I love heights and new challenges.”
Everton fan Tommy is a keen cyclist, canoeist and rock climber and still enjoys a game of football as a goalkeeper.
He was a scaffolder for 46 years and ran his own business, Whitfield Scaffolding.
He added: “I always eat healthy food, I never eat junk. It just wouldn’t give me the energy I need.”
