MUSKETS banged and cannons boomed as a civil war battle was re-enacted in Runcorn at the weekend.
Members of the Sealed Knot brought history to life at Norton Priory as part of heritage open day celebrations.
A 17th century living camp was set up in the ancient ruins.
More than 600 visitors braved the wind and rain to enjoy the action-packed fun at the priory and Halton Castle.
Susan Humphries, events officer, said: “Families were able to interact with the soldiers and pick up fighting tips.
“It was great to see Norton Priory alive with the sights, sounds and smells of the past.
“We could hear the cannon boom from Halton Castle!”
