Woman struck in the head with air pellet in Runcorn
A WOMAN has been hit in the head by a pellet from an air rifle in Runcorn.
Police today appealed for information following the unprovoked attack.
The 42-year-old victim required hospital treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
She was struck in the head as she walked along Halton Lodge Avenue at around 1.30pm on Sunday, September 8.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “It is not believed the incident was in any way a targeted attack. Police believe that the woman was a victim of irresponsible and illegal air weapon use.
“Patrols have been stepped up in the area since this incident, and local officers will be actively patrolling the local community and challenging anyone thought to be involved in the illegal discharge of air weapons, and seize such items from anyone not using them within the confines of the law.”
