Runcorn's Curiosity Bookshop joins national book celebration
A RUNCORN bookshop is joining the nationwide big bookshop party on Saturday, September 14, to celebrate reading.
Curosity Bookshop in High Street will be giving the first 50 customers one of the iconic ‘Books Are My Bag’.
Customers will also be given a 20 per cent discount off all books in the shop, including bargain books which are already half price.
John F Sinnot, author of ‘Two-Fisted Gentlemen’, a history of boxing in Widnes and Runcorn (1900-1960) will be signing copies of his book from 1pm.
He has recorded fights from the Sheridan versus McCabe bare knuckle fight right up to Jack Ryan being awarded the Halton Sports Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
A raffle in aid of Combat Stress, the charity helping our gallant service men recover from the trauma of war, with ten great prizes, including vouchers to spend in other Runcorn shops, will also take place on the day.
These include Monks Deli, Lunt’s Chemist, Plant and Flower Works, Lill’s Café, Sweet Memories, Melenio Italian Restaurant and Aaron Jewellers amongst others.
There will also be free chocolate for youngsters.
Books Are My Bag is a collaboration between publishers, bookshops and authors and is the biggest ever promotion of books and high street bookshops.
