Runcorn runners support blind veterans
STAFF at a Runcorn opticians have raised more than £400 for blind veterans by completing a charity run.
Specsavers store manager Chris Graham, aged 30, and store supervisor, Sue Evans, aged 51, of Grangeway, Runcorn, took part in the Birchwood 10k event.
The money will help local ex-servicemen and women struggling with sight loss receive the support and advice they need to lead independent lives.
Chris, of Appleton, Warrington, used to live in Higher Runcorn. He said: “We’ve been raising money in the store for Blind Veterans UK over the last few months, holding events including a ‘tarts for troops’ bake sale to support a cause the whole team is passionate about.
“This charity does some outstanding work with veterans, helping them to discover life beyond sight loss.
“This includes proving lifelong welfare support, rehabiliation, trainong, long term nursing, residential and respite care.”
He wants to thank customers and shoppers in Halton Lea for their generous donations.
