11:16am Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
AN elderly man suffered a bruised and swollen face after being attacked with a rolling pin at his Runcorn flat.
The 71-year-old was at home in Rothsay Close, Castlefields, with three friends when two men dressed in dark clothing and armed with the rolling pin and a knife, forced their way in.
The intruders, stole money from the victims and searched the flat before fleeing at around 10pm on August 26.
Detective constable Neal Davison said: "Both suspects are described as white, aged in their late 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall. The first had a stocky build and was wearing a grey hooded top. The second had dark coloured hair, pointy features and a wiry build. Both had Merseyside accents.
"Although the injuries were not serious, the consequences could have been much worse, and I would urge anyone with any information to contact police."
The elderly man was also left with a reddening to the top of his head while his friend, aged 37, suffered a small injury to the top of his head.
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 1031 or August 26, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
