A YOUNG Widnes actress is off to see the wizard at the North Pier in Blackpool.
Maria Doyle, from Cronton, has landed a role as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and a spot in prestigious acting school.
The former Wade Deacon pupil is one of six to have got a place at Central School of Speech and Drama in London to study for a masters degree in classical acting.
Maria, aged 24, said: “This is my first big musical part, I’ve played big roles like Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and it is a role I have wanted to play since I was little.”
Maria will be heading to London in September for the year-long course and is looking for some help with her £16,000 fees.
She said: “This is great opportunity and I love to do more Shakespeare and maybe something like Downton Abbey.”
