Two Widnes fans receive lifetime bans

TWO Widnes fans have been banned for life from home matches following trouble during the club’s away game at Hull FC earlier this month.
Ian Hansen and Liam Riccio received lifetime bans from Halton Borough Council and the Widnes Vikings after their behaviour was described as ‘unacceptable’ during an investigation.
Vikings CEO James Rule said: “After a thorough investigation involving dialogue with Halton Borough Council, officials at the KC Stadium and the police, we have actioned these banning orders.
“As I have repeated on numerous occasions in recent weeks, the vast majority of our fans are a credit to the club and support us passionately both home and away.
“However, a small minority have brought the club into disrepute.
“We will not stand by and let this minority damage the good name and reputation of the Widnes Vikings.
“I hope these banning orders serve to discourage anybody from engaging in anti-social behaviour at a Widnes Vikings fixture, whether at home or away.
“Together, we will stamp out this minority and protect the reputation of our club.”
Mr Rule added investigations into incidents during last week’s Warrington game were also continuing and confirmed he expected further banning orders will be issued in due course.
Anti-social behaviour can be reported through the club’s anonymous text service 07506 605205.
During the game at Salford, the number is 07506 605135.
