Concert in memory of Runcorn musician returns for second year
2:10pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
A CHARITY concert organised in memory of Runcorn musician is to return this year.
Mikefest will include live music from bands such as The Ragamuffins and an appearance from Fireman Sam.
Organised by Joyce Hammond following the suicide of her youngest son Michael in August 2011, the event returns for its second year to raise money for suicide prevention charity Papyrus.
Mum-of-three Joyce said: “I thought it was just a one off but it was a bit of a wash out last year, it was good, but I think we lost a lot of visitors because of the wind and the rain. We couldn’t even put a bouncy castle up because of health and safety.
“Michael’s friends love it because it is raising awareness and people are having fun while taking the elephant out of the room.”
The event is free to enter on August 26 at The Pavillions in Runcorn from midday until 8pm.
