WORK is about to start on a new £8 million Lidl store in Runcorn.
The German discount chain has confirmed that they hope to open in October.
The store will be situated on the former Vestric site, beside Asda in West Lane, where Polar Ford recently opened a new showroom.
A Lidl spokeswoman said: “Lidl has now appointed a contractor to build the new store and works will commence in the very near future. It is anticipated that we will be opening in October 2013.
“The new store will create jobs both at a store level as well as at our regional distribution centre at Manor Park. We are greatly looking forward to welcoming new and existing Lidl customers to this store.”
Lidl pledged to recruit local people when it announced plans to come to Runcorn in 2011.
