A STATE-OF-THE-ART £45.6 million new school opens for Grange nursery, infant, junior and secondary pupils in Latham Avenue, Runcorn, after Easter.

Former pupils, parents and friends are invited to walk down memory lane one last time before the old buildings are decommisioned.

An open day is being held on Saturday, March 23, from 10am to 1pm and visitors are invited to bring along any old photographs, documents and memories.

Executive head teacher, David Stanley said: “We are putting together a book that celebrates the journey from the old buildings to the new with memories of what happened over so many years, together with initial impressions and pictures of the magnificent new facilities.

“The book will include photographs and video of both the old and the new.

“We are very interested to hear from anyone who has any photographs or memories they are willing to share in writing or by recording a short piece to camera.

“We will have a video camera set up and a scanner available to scan pictures and documents at the open day.”

The film and book are being produced by Widnes creative media company, Printel Design, and will be on sale in September.

Anyone with memorabilia who cannot attend the open day can contact the school on 01928 578115.

My brother Kevin and his wheelchair was the reason they installed the first lift in the old Grange building. He passed away in February this year, I guess its quite fitting that the lift will be dismantled in the same year.

Bye bye Grange!
