Widnes volunteers to take TV Comic Relief calls
12:40pm Friday 15th March 2013 in News By Barbara Jordan
Kevin Clare ready to take your Comic Relief calls this evening
AS Lenny Henry, Michael McIntyre and Davina McCall urge us all to do something funny for money on BBC TV this evening, a team of 250 volunteers in Widnes will be frantically answering telephones.
Around 250 volunteers at Home Retail Group, the former GUS, in Royal Avenue, will be supporting the 25th anniversary of Red Nose Day.
Wendy Catterall, who looks after communications at the company, said: “Our colleagues are really excited about the evening.
“It promises to be great fun and we’re thrilled to have been given such a fantastic opportunity to make a significant contribution towards Red Nose Day.”
Staff will be fundraising themselves with their own version of Just Dance for Comic Relief as well as holding a giant cake sale as Peter Kay and Rowan Atkinson entertain you during the jam packed TV show.
Money raised will help people living unimaginably tough lives at home and in Africa.
