Fancy dress fun at Halton schools

MONSTERS, fairies, cowboys, and pirates turned up in classrooms as children across Halton celebrated World Book Day.
Pupils and teachers dressed up as their favourite characters to foster a love for reading.
Tots at Warrington Road Nursery School in Naylor Road, Widnes, received book tokens.
Acting head teacher Amanda Brown said: “We use book day to engage children in thinking and talking about their favourite books and characters.”
Staff at SS Peter and Paul Catholic College dressed up as their favourite literary characters.
Literacy co-ordinator Jane Hines said: “Promoting a love of reading is vital for our young people.
“Sixth form students worked with our year seven pupils and teachers promoted reading for pleasure during all their lessons.”
Children at Gorsewood Primary School in Runcorn had lots of fun bringing books to life.
Acting head teacher Janette Gregg said: “We were delighted with the efforts pupils and families made in order to make the day so successful and fun.”
