Man charged with murdering Wayne Basnett in Hale Village

A MAN has been charged with the murder of Widnes dad Wayne Basnett.
Christie O’Connor, aged 28, of Weston Avenue, Speke, appeared in custody before Runcorn magistrates this morning via a video link.
He confirmed his name and date of birth during the two minute hearing.
He is charged with killing dad-of-three Mr Basnett, of Mayfield Avenue, Hough Green, in Pepper Street, Hale Village, on December 22, 2010.
Mr Basnett was shot through the head.
O'Connor was remanded in custody, and will appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday.
