A GANG of burglars wielding a large knife threatened a man at his home in Runcorn.

The 62-year-old victim suffered soreness to his back after they forced their way into his house in Thomas Street.

Two of the offenders searched the property before the gang fled empty-handed.

Detectives are now appealing for information.

DC Michelle Thompson, who is investigating the incident, said: "We take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we are committed to doing everything we can to trace those responsible.

"We are currently carrying out a number of lines of enquiry in a bid to trace the offender and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or who was in the area at the time and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or may have seen the offenders fleeing the scene to come forward."

The aggrevated burglary happened at around 8.35pm on Monday, March 11.

The four men are described as being no taller than 5ft 6ins. Three of them were dressed in black and one was wearing a pale blue jacket.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 829 of 11 March 2013.
