Halton Lea shopping centre staff present £500 to the Canal Boat Adventure Project
SHOPPERS at Runcorn’s Halton Lea have raised almost £500 for the Canal Boat Adventure, the centre’s charity for 2012.
The Canal Boat Adventure Project was set up in 1976, and helps vulnerable and at-risk teenagers in Halton.
It provides day trips and canal boat experiences for youth organisations, local schools and services for young people.
Since 2001, it has provided an exciting social inclusion project, which enables local young people to achieve employment, university or volunteering in Halton and in the developing world.
Customers have donated money throughout the year into a wishing well in the town square.
Norma Hornby, MBE, manager of the Canal Boat Adventure Project, said, “I can’t thank the customers of Halton Lea shopping centre enough.
“It is such a positive outcome and I am overwhelmed at the amount of donations we have received for such a fantastic charity.”
