SCAFFOLDING boards caught fire at a vehicle parts production plant in Widnes.
Firefighters tackled the blaze at Saffil Limited in Sullivan Road.
They found boards in a building measuring 100 metres by 15 metres on fire at 11.30pm on Wednesday, February 27.
Crews used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and then cooled the area. A thermal imaging camera checked the ongoing temperature of the wood to ensure there were no further flare ups.
Gas and electricity supplies were isolated.
The fire was caused by the scaffolding boards overheating from convected heat from a furnace.
Saffil manufactures and sells high temperature resistant materials for catalytic convertors and industrial insulation.
The company has customers all over the world with operations in South Africa, USA, Japan, China and Brazil.
