Jailed Runcorn mum slammed by former friends and neighbours
A RUNCORN mum jailed for four years for torching her own home has been blasted by former friends and neighbours on the World’s Facebook page.
Somrun Khan, aged 47, of Vahler Terrace, claimed she was the victim of racial attacks.
She accused people of damaging her car, wheelie bin and shed but police officers who investigated the alleged incidents could find no culprits.
The truth only came out after she put her family and firefighters’ lives at risk, last September.
Khan admitted two charges of recklessly endangering life after setting fire to her garden shed.
She had locked the front and back door, trapping her self and her two daughters inside .
Almost 100 comments were placed on Facebook slamming her as a ‘terrible neighbour’, and ‘screwed up person’.
Clare McArdle posted: ‘It was my sister and her son she accused. Glad she got four years. She forced my sister to move house by accusing her of racial attacks. She should have got longer for putting her daughters and neighbours at risk.’ Janis Stringer added: ‘Stupid woman. Feel sorry for the people who she accused.’ Paula Handley posted: ‘I’m shocked, what a horrid thing to do. Can’t do the time, don;t do the crime.’ Karan Waller added: ‘Oh my gosh, she was our neighbour. I rang the fire engine on the last night it was on fire.’ Ian Burrows posted: ‘Restored my faith in the judicial system.’ Kim Powell added: ‘The likes of her gives us a bad name.’ Jane Gill posted: ‘Used to go clubbing with her in my late teens. She was always really nice. This has really shocked me. What a screwed up person, how could she do that?’
