No ready meals served in Halton's schools
SCHOOL dinners in Halton are safe, say health chiefs, in the wake of the current horsemeat investigation.
All meals served in the borough’s canteens are freshly prepared in kitchens.
A Halton Council spokesman said: “We no not supply ready meals or pre-prepared processed food through our school meal service.
“Our beef is UK assured beef from UK approved slaughterhouses. Alll have provided written statements proving they can trace their sources.
“We do not purchase ready made burgers, we make them from the product we purchase.
“Likewise our mince is assured and our sausages are made only from best English pork. ”
