THREE men brandishing a knife threatened a man in an aggrevated burglary in Widnes yesterday.

They burst into his home in Darlington Court at around 1am,  and assaulted him.

They stole electrical items and jewellery before running off.

The 27-year-old victim sustained bruising to his face and neck. He did not require hospital treatment.

DC Andy Blizard, who is investigating the incident, said: "We want to reassure the local community that we take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously.

"We are appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information, which might assist with our enquiries.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who was in the area at the time of the incident and has seen anyone acting suspiciously.

"We are also urging anyone who may have seen the offenders fleeing the scene to get in touch."

Anyone with any information, which might assist officers with their enquiries, is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 25 of 25 February or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Two men, aged 17 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the incident. They have both subsequently been bailed pending further enquiries.
