A SINGER who has raised more than £100,000 for charity has recorded a new single.
Jonnie Rocco hopes his version of The Wonder of Roo, in honour of Wayne Rooney, will raise funds for epilepsy charity Matthew’s Friends.
But he now needs a record producer to make his dream come true.
Jonnie, aged 72, of Dean Street, Widnes, said: “I’m looking for a sponsor. My friend’s grandson has epilepsy so I want to help him.
“I’ve raised more than £100,000 for lots of different charities.”
Elvis fan Johnnie sings at clubs and pubs across the town.
Last week he helped raise £300 for the British Heart Foundation at Farnworth Social Club.
He belongs to the Knights of St Columba and Irish Guards choirs in Widnes and sings at funerals and weddings.
He performed with The Beatles at the Cavern Club in Liverpool in 1961 and recently returned for a charity show.
His gig went down so well, he was invited back to give four more concerts.
He has auditioned for the X-Factor several times and also appeared on the Graham Norton show.
He regularly entertains elderly residents in care homes.
Johnnie said: “I have everyone laughing. It’s great fun.
“People write songs for me. I would love to do adverts for the telly. I can do all sorts of voiceovers.”
