Widnes students explore career in law

Solicitor Gary Gray talks to students at St Peter & Paul Catholic College
STUDENTS are exploring a range of careers by talking to professionals.
Pupils at SS Peter & Paul Catholic College in Highfield Road, Widnes, found out about the role of a solicitor at a law cafe on Thursday.
Personal injury lawyer Gary Gray told them how he qualified, what his day to day job involves and the different areas he has practised in.
He spoke to them about his favourite type of work and the parts he least likes.
He advised them about their choice of A levels and gave recommendations on university courses.
Students aged 11 to 15 asked him various questions.
Gary Gray, from Huyton, said: “Students were really inquisitive. It was great to see children interested in law at such an early age.
“I enjoyed all their questions.”
Pupil Jon Rodaway, aged 15, said: “I found the session really useful. I’ve been thinking about a future in law and his has helped me make my decision.”
Assistant head teacher Ruth Powley said: “We run cafes in law, science and business to allow students to meet professionals and develop theri aspirations and ambitions from an early age.”
