ROBBERS threatened staff at a Widnes newsagent and stole a quantity of cash.

Two offenders burst into Good News in Albert Road and gained access to the till.

Detectives today appealed for information.

DC Jason Heath, who is investigating the incident, said: "We are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident and are urging anyone who witnessed what happened to contact us immediately.

"We would also urge anyone who was in the area at the time and has seen anyone acting suspiciously to come forward."

The incident took place at around 4.15pm, on Tuesday, 5 February.

The first offender is described as white, around 5ft ins to 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build and believed to be in his early 20s. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, a black scarf, which was covering his face, dark trousers, white trainers and black gloves.

The second offender is described as white, around 5ft ins to 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, had his face covered with a dark scarf, dark tracksuit bottoms with three white stripes and dark trainers.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 630 of 5 February.
