TIPS on how to grow the best crops will be given at a fun-filled family event at a potato fair in Runcorn’s Norton Priory.
Spudganza is a chance for gardeners and families to stock up on heritage seed potatoes, plants and bulbs.
Children can compete in a potato and spoon race, try their skills at a potato shy or create their own spudman.
The event takes place in the walled garden courtyard, on Sunday, February 17, from 10am to 4pm.
Freshly baked potatoes cooked in a cob oven and homemade soup will be on sale.
Ranger Paul Quigley said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to kick start your gardening year with lots of fun for families and handy tips about your veg patch for gardening enthusiasts.”
At 2pm, there will be a talk by Sam Youd, former head gardener at Tatton Park, who worked at the estate for 30 years and was instrumental in bringing the RHS show to Cheshire.
Entry to Spudganza is free.
Normal admission prices apply for museum entry.
