A SMOKER was seen throwing a cigarette butt out of his works vehicle on the Runcorn Widnes bridge, a court has heard.
Ian Ellis, aged 42, of Caernarvon Close, Castlefields, Runcorn, was fined £75 and ordered to pay £340 costs and a £15 victim surcharge when he appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court.
He was spotted discarding a cigarette by a Halton Council officer, travelling across the bridge on the morning of Monday, August 13, last year.
After a trial, the matter was found proved.
Ellis was convicted for the offence of littering on January 28.
