Former mayor Clr Keith Morley (centre) has offered thanks to those in the community who supported various fundraising events
MORE than £18,000 was raised for three local charities by last year’s Mayor’s Fund.
Clr Keith Morley wants to thank everyone in the community who supported various fundraising events.
The money has been shared between Halton Haven Hospice, Halton Royal British Legion and the Mark Gorry Foundation.
Former Mayor Clr Morley said: “"I thoroughly enjoyed the events last year. It really made me appreciate how charity-minded the people of Halton are."
An Irish night, mid winter ball, bowling night and civic night helped to boost funds.
Bobby Dunn, of Halton Royal British Legion, said: "We are upgrading our toilet in the club for wheelchair access, and putting a door and ramp from the car park into the building, to give access to the museum for wheelchairs.”
Tina Robinson from Halton Haven said: "The money raised enabled us to provide 500 hours of specialist nursing time which is a key part of our special kind of caring."
Lou Challoner, of The Mark Gorry Foundation, said: "This money has allowed us to invest in how we can deliver awareness sessions, educating men on the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer and what to look out for."
