A CELEBRATION has been held for successful A Level students who graduated from Cronton Sixth Form College.

They returned from their university courses to receive their certificates at a special ceremony.

Former Bankfield pupil, Hannah Oldfield, aged 19, of Whernside, Widnes, was named student of the year. She is currently studying at Leeds University.

She consistently achieved a high standard academically and played key roles in five stage productions, including My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Evita.

Mary Murphy, head of Cronton Sixth Form, said, β€œIt was wonderful to see the students again. Not only to celebrate their achievements and recognise their successes, but also to hear about how well they had all settled into their universities and their plans for the future.

β€œI am extremely proud of all of our students. I wish them all good luck for the future.”

Sam Mullin, aged 21, currently studying at Liverpool University, won student of the year for creating and performing arts.

Former Bankfield pupil, Carl Austin, aged 18, from Upton Grange, Widnes, studying at Edge Hill University, won student of the year for humanities.

Lauren Olilvier, aged 18, now at Liverpool University, won student of the year for English and modern foreign languages.

Ryan Cain, aged 16, studying at Liverpool University, won student of the year for science and maths.

Charlotte Lewis, aged 19, from Liverpool, won student of the year for sport.

Hannah and Ryan were the first students to receive a scholarship at Cronton.
