RESIDENTS were encouraged to lead a healthier lifestyle at a special free event at Stobart Stadium.
A health and wellbeing themed area forum was held for people living in Appleton, Kingsway and Riverside wards in Widnes.
Attractions included cookery demonstrations, a no alcohol bar, a health bus, men’s health checks and displays on 27 different stalls.
Various voluntary and community groups, including Halton Citizens Advice Bureau, Widnes and Runcorn Cancer Support Group, Halton Credit Union and Vision Support took part.
A fun health quiz with electronic headsets proved popular.
David Gray from Halton Council and Claire Creed from Halton Housing Trust spoke about the impact of changes to the benefits systems which come into effect in April.
Refreshments were served and many residents stayed on for an area forum meeting, with presentations from Halton Clinical Commissioning Board and Halton Council’s budget plans.
