EFFECTIVE learning and a well resourced and welcoming environment have been created for children at a Widnes church community centre.
St John’s Pre-School in Greenway Road has been hailed as ‘good’ by Ofsted inspectors.
In a report, inspectors said: “The range of quality resources and experiences provide interesting and challenging opportunities that cover all areas of learning.
“A cosy book corner encourages children to read. Children are happy and settled.”
Seven staff look after 26 children in five morning sessions.
Manager Jean Kenwright, married with a teenage son, said: "I am very proud of the hard work my staff have put in to come up to this standard. The staff are absolutely made up.
“Children have grown socially, emotionally and physically. They are making new friends and making friends with the world around them and becoming confident little learners.
“I love watching the children progress and develop.”
The Pre-School is expanding in April to offer four afternoon sessions.
