BURGLARS burst into the home of a Widnes man and threatened the 66-year-old occupant.

Three men forced their way into a house in Milton Road and stole the man’s car keys, bank cards, mobile phone and cash.

They drove off towards Speke in his blue Ford Focus.

The victim was not injured but left shaken by his ordeal.

Detectives today appealed for witnesses.

DC Angela Gardiner, of Widnes CID, said: "To be threatened with violence and have your home invaded can be a frightening experience.

"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or may know who is responsible to get in touch with us immediately.

"We take all incidents of this nature extremely seriously and would urge anyone with any information which might assist us with our enquiries to get in touch."

The incident happened at 7.45pm, on Sunday, January 20.

The first offender is described as white, in his mid-twenties, about 6ft tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded coat, black tracksuit bottoms and a black scarf and gloves.

The second man is described as white, in his mid-twenties, about 6ft tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded coat, a black scarf and black tracksuit bottoms.

The third man is described as white, between 25 and 30, about 6ft tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black hooded coat, a black scarf and dark tracksuit bottoms.
