Businesses on the up in Halton
BUSINESSES across Halton invested more money in plant, machinery and IT last year, according to figures released by trade experts, the Finance & Leasing Association.
Finance leasing was up nine per cent and hire purchase grew by 11 per cent last year.
Widnes chartered accountant Nigel Holland said: “Widnes and Runcorn businesses have increased their spending on plant, machinery and IT investment and this is vital to enable them to compete in the market place.
“The recent changes in the tax rules relating to allowances for money spent on investment are very helpful for local businesses and if there is insufficient investment in plant, machinery and IT the competitive edge of local businesses can be hampered.”
