Girl, 17, assaulted and teens threatened with hammer

TWO men brandishing a hammer threatened teenagers at a Widnes park.

They demanded the four youngsters hand over their mobile phones and assaulted a 17-year-old girl.

She was left shaken by her ordeal but did not need to go to hospital.

The attack happened at the bandstand in Victoria Park, Birchfield Road, at around 8.47pm on Friday, January 11.

DC Neil Fleming, of Runcorn CID, said: "We take all incidents of this nature extremely seriously and are doing all we can to trace the offenders.”

The offenders ran off towards St Bede’s Primary School without taking anything.

The first man is described as white, about 5ft 5ins tall, aged between 16 and 18, with a slim build. He was wearing a black scarf, a grey hooded top with the hood up and black tracksuit bottoms. He spoke with a local accent and was carrying a hammer.

The second man is described as being 6ft tall, aged between 16 and 18, of slim build, with a slight tan. He was wearing black clothing including a black body warmer and a black scarf.

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident 825 of 11 January 2013.
