A GIANT Runcorn call centre has teamed up with villagers who live down the road.
02 in Preston Brook, home to 1,700 staff, has various projects as part of the company’s ambassador programme.
Operations manager Joanne Howarth, who headed the team, said: ““Our ambition was always to become a great neighbour to the people in Preston Brook.
“We’ve enjoyed getting to know the local residents and extending the hand of friendship with O2.”
Staff helped to clean up a canal tow path and re-design the parish newsletter, which is now delilvered to 02 offices every month.
Villagers have been given guided tours of the site and found out more about what goes on inside the landmark building.
Joanne, from Warrington, said: “We wanted to open our doors to local people. It’s been a huge success that has allowed us all the chance to get to know one another so much better. I am so proud of the team who have worked so hard, much of which has been in their own time.”
Various initiatives are already planned for 2013.
Work is underway to create a new children’s play area in Preston Brook. O2 has agreed to help with the design and build of a new garden.
They’re also working with local historians to research and build a history wall that will be on show at the entrance of O2.
