A SEX beast who raped a girl when she was 11 and had sex with another 13-year-old girl has been jailed for 12 years.

Security guard Paul McCann, aged 31, of Allerton Road, Widnes, preyed on the girls for five years and left them feeling scared and intimidated, Warrington Crown Court was told.

He denied 15 charges, including two counts of raping a girl when she was 11 and 12, between 2006 and 2008, and having sex with her when she was 14.

He was also charged with having sex with another girl when she was aged between 13 and 15, from 2009 to 2011, performing sex acts with both girls, and possessing indecent photographs of a third girl when she was 17.

A jury of seven woman and five men found McCann, who worked at a Runcorn warehouse as a security officer for Global Union, guilty of all 15 charges after a nine day trial.

Judge David Hale sentenced him to a total of 12 years and put him on the sex offender register for the rest of his life.

Simon Mills, prosecuting, told the court that McCann intimidated his victims.

He said: “He was very controlling. He forced one girl’s bedroom door making it come off its hinges.

“She was scared of him.

“She felt embarrassed and ashamed because she let it happen rather than tell anyone.”

Investigating officer, DC Tim Murray, said:"This has been a very difficult and complex investigation over 16 months involving vulnerable victims and witnesses.

“Paul McCann was calculating and controlling in preying on the child victims over a 5 year period. He used different methods to instigate and maintain contact with them including his mobile phone and social media websites.

“Thanks to the willingness of the victims and witnesses, he has been rightly convicted of these serious offences and following his punishment will be further managed on the sex offender register for the rest of his life to safeguard children from his abuse."
