Man, 50, attacked and mugged in Widnes

A MAN was attacked and mugged as he left work in Widnes.

The 50-year-old victom suffered a cut to the head, bruises and a slight injury to his hand as a result of the assault.

He was treated in hospital.

The incident happened as he was leaving the LWC Merseyside drinks distributor on Marshgate, Ditton.

He was approached by two men who assaulted him and stole a quantity of cash from his pocket.

Detectives today appealed for witnesses.

The robbery happened at around 9.30pm, on Friday, December 7.
