RIVERSIDE College footballers have their eyes on a second national championship after once again winning the North West league for a second consecutive year.

One of the college’s two teams will now be heading to the national finals of the Pan Ability tournament in Bath, where foundation students from the college were victorious last year.

They sealed their place with a penalty victory over Lancaster and Morecambe College at the Stobart Stadium in early November.

Goalkeeper Ellis Snape has been selected to play for the England Learning Difficulties team and has been training with the squad at the St George’s Park National Football Centre in Staffordshire.

“Everyone who played for both teams worked together to produce excellent football” said head coach and college tutor Phil Haden.

“They played with great enthusiasm and passion and I am looking forward to taking them to the National finals and hopefully retaining the title."
