A SECURITY guard accused of raping a girl when she was 11 and having sex with a 13-year-old girl left them feeling scared and intimidated, Warrington Crown Court heard yesterday.

Paul McCann, aged 31, of Allerton Road, Widnes, faces 15 sexual charges, including two counts of raping a girl when she was 11 and 12, between 2006 and 2008.

He is also accused of having sex with her when she was aged 14 and 15 and oral sex with her when she was 14.

He is charged with having sex and oral sex with another girl when she was aged 13, 14 and 15, between 2009 and 2011.

He is also accused of possessing indecent photographs of a third girl when she was 17.

McCann, who worked as a security officer at Global Union, denies all the charges.

Simon Mills, prosecuting, said the offences only came to light when a love letter he sent to one of the girls was discovered.

He told a jury of seven women and five men: “She hid it in her maths book. He told her not to read it until she was alone.

“When it was found he told her to say he got it from the internet.”

In the letter, he said: ‘You mean more to me than anything in the world. I love you with all my heart’.

The girl told police she had sex with him numerous times since she was 13, but he began to make threats when she met someone else and tried to end their relationship.

Mr Mills said: “When she was 14, she thought she loved him. Now she felt embarrassed and ashamed because she let it happen rather than tell anyone.

“He was very controlling of her. He forced her bedroom door making it come off its hinges. She was scared of him.

“When she tried to call it off, he had a go at her. He said he was going to wreck their lives.”

The rape victim described in a video interview how McCann had sex with her when she was 11.

Mr Mills said: “She said he took her clothes off and wouldn’t let her put them back on. She felt uncomfortable because of her age. He didn’t use condoms.”

He raped her again shortly after she started high school and continued to have sex with her until she was 15.

She told her dad but he didn’t believe her.

When she was 14, McCann took a picture of her naked on his mobile phone.

The girl told police she saw an obscene video of him on his phone, performing sex acts with another young girl.

Mr Mills said: “The police did not find any such image on any of the exhibits they seized but that doesn’t mean that they were never there.”

The trial continues.
