A WOMAN was robbed on her way home in Widnes, detectives revealed today.

The 35-year-old victim was walking along Lower House Lane towards McDonalds in Moor Lane when she was approached by two men asking for money.

When she refused, one of the men grabbed a gold chain from around her neck.

The muggers then fled across St Micahel’s playing fields.

DC Lee Martin, who is investigating the incident, said: "The victim was not injured during the robbery but she was left shaken by what happened.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time, local residents, dog walkers, or anyone who was using the nearby laying fields, and may have witnessed what happened to come forward.

"I would also appeal to anyone who may have seen the offenders fleeing the scene or may be able to offer some information regarding the identity of the offenders to get in touch.

“We are committed to identifying those responsible and ensuring they are punished for their actions."

The incident happened at 9.30pm on Thursday, November 8.

The two offenders are described as white, aged in their late teens and were wearing black clothing , including caps.

They were also both wearing gloves and one of the men was wearing Nike 110 trainers. The men spoke with a local accent.
