Youngsters head to Parliament
8:00am Sunday 28th October 2012 in News
A GROUP of young people from four Runcorn housing estates visited Halton’s two MPs at the Houses of Parliament.
The youngsters, aged 10-16 years, are junior board members of Runcorn charity, Four Estates, which delivers community work in Halton Brook, Murdishaw, Palacefields and Hallwood Park.
They met MPs Graham Evans and Derek Twigg and had a guided tour of Parliament and the opportunity to view MPs debating health issues.
Joe Kearney, aged 16, from Palacefields, said: “It was fantastic. Our MPs were great and it was interesting to learn so much more of our history. Watching the debate in real life, rather than on TV was amazing.”
Runcorn’s Mayor, Clr Tom McInerney waved the children off from Runcorn station on the trip funded by Riverside Housing and Halton Borough Council.
