THE anxious bride was so nervous, she ate her wedding ring!
Luckily, it was a sweet and not gold - but everything else was for real.
Excited children at Brookvale Primary School took part in their very own marriage ceremony as a real life RE lesson.
"I had a bright idea to do our own wedding and it just snowballed!" said teacher Mrs Nicola Lea.
"Every child had a role. It was very similar to a real wedding. The only difference was we used Haribo rings.
"During the Lord's prayer, the bride must have been too tense and ate her ring!"
Shauna Crook and Bradley Christian, both aged 10, were chosen out of a hat to be bride and groom.
"The children all worked together and took it very seriously," said Mrs Lea.
"It was all about relationships and citizenship.
"It was lovely to watch, there were tears.
"Parents were fantastic and supported me right the way through.
A cleaner made the veil and flowers, a mum designed 25 buttonholes and one of the dinner ladies baked a wedding cake.
"The children designed invitations, thank you letters and even wrote newspaper reports," added Mrs Lea.
"I hope it's something they will remember for years to come."
They're already looking forward to a christening in two weeks - of the class teddybear!
