Apartments and shops bought
SWISH apartments and shops built to inject new life into Widnes town centre have been bought by a housing association.
Liebig Court, facing Asda, has been sold to Places for People, one of the largest not-for-profit property management and development companies in the UK.
It marks the completion of a £35 million investment by Widnes Regeneration Limited, a joint venture between Halton Council and St Modwen Properties PLC.
Richard Bakes, development manager of St Modwen, said: "We are very proud of the redevelopment of this area of Widnes which has injected £35 million of investment."
The development includes 38 one and two-bedroom apartments and six retail units.
Philip Helm, director of development (North West) for the Preston-based Places for People, said: "We are committed to widening access to home ownership and helping people to take those first steps on to the property ladder.
"Our aims is to provide a mix of facilities and services at Liebig Court to help to create a sustainable and prosperous place where people will start to live, work and play."
Asda relocated from Halebank, 40 homes were build in Lacey Street, apartments developed at Alfred Court and Liebig Court and new offices and shops created at Simms Cross to regenerate the southern end of Widnes.
