WIDNES Vikings have their best chance to wow the Super League licence board this weekend when they face arguably their toughest test of the campaign.

Vikings take on top flight outfit Hull FC on Sunday in the in the fifth round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup at Stobart Stadium Halton, kick off 3pm.

Vikings boss Steve McCormack said: "Hull FC are an excellent side who were Challenge Cup winners a couple of years ago and it's going to be a tough task for us but one I know the players will relish.

"It is always good to test yourselves against better opposition and the game with Hull will give us an ideal opportunity to see how far we've come since November.

"It is also the type of David and Goliath game that is the beauty of the cup and one which will hopefully attract the imagination of our fans.

"The game with Hull will be the ideal opportunity for the club to show to the rugby league community as a whole that Widnes wish to be considered as serious contenders for a place among the game's elite."

The RFL is expected to decide who will secure Super League status for the next three years in July.

The team played well. What a pity the people of the town decided not to turn up and support them and preferred to stay at home watching association football on the box.
